Tali was my doula for the birth of my first child in 2015. The most enlivening, intimidating, miraculous experience of my life necessitated an attentive, emotionally intelligent, strong person, and Tali was just right. They made sure to speak with me often during my pregnancy to understand my visions, my values, my fears. They arrived at first hint that I was about to begin labor, and began supporting me immediately in exactly the ways I needed. When my progress started slowing and my midwife recommended actions that were not aligned with what I had wanted, Tali was my stable voice. They calmly and firmly asserted my desires and worked with my midwife to find other options that satisfied all. Their stability throughout the long labor, their strong, comforting presence and their golden communication with me and others was essential support— now I look back on my labor with satisfaction that I went through the most challenging process of my life with the freedom to make my own decisions and listen to my body.
“Leading up to the birth of our son, Tali met with us twice, lent us their rebozo to get used to prior to childbirth, and was constantly checking in with us and assuring us. When my partner's water broke, I called Tali and they recommended we head to the hospital. They actually beat us there and stayed with us during our stay. They helped me support as the non-birthing person, gently suggested ways to work with my unmedicated partner, and coached us through tough decisions. Their calm demeanor, vast knowledge not only of childbirth but of massage techniques as well, and care made all the difference.
Even after the birth, Tali followed up with us and even came to our house to chat about our mental health within two weeks. Tali helped me support my partner, worked as part of our birthing team, and was an invaluable resource leading up to and during birth. We couldn't recommend anyone higher!”
Tali is a wonderful educator and experienced in working with LGBTQ+ and intersectional communities. They have an air of ease and confidence that I would want by my side in any situation which might feel unfamiliar. The attention to detail and care that they give in their work from both an emotional and a physical level is truly rare.
I first want to say that Tali was beyond amazing and I am so thankful I found her. My first birth was in SoCal where doulas and midwives are plentiful. When I moved to the area I was beyond nervous that I would not get the same experience. So when I found out I was expecting those nerves kicked into overdrive. I was not looking for a doula this time around but Tali fell into my lap and I do not have the words to express how beyond grateful I am for that. Tali and I instantly clicked during our first meeting. She is easy to talk to and beyond understanding in every sense of the word. I let her know that she would be taking on a difficult task because my boyfriend did not understand the whole doula thing but she was totally up for it! She met with my family about 3 times before my birth and reassured and taught my boyfriend all there was to know. The love, patience, and kindness she exhibited to my family will always take up a huge part of my heart. When it came time to birth Tali showed up just in time to help me through pushing. My labor went so fast that my midwife didn't show up and Tali was there to catch my baby and help him on his journey to his first breath. Tali was calm and collected throughout the whole process. After birth she visited 2 more times. Postpartum was extremely difficult and emotional. She sat with my family while we cried and processed family devastation. She provided resources but most importantly she provided love that my family so desperately needed throughout my whole journey. I am beyond blessed and grateful for her presence in my life.
